What should I do if …

… I have a broken tooth? If you have fractured a tooth, collect every piece of the tooth that you can. Rinse your mouth with warm water and apply gauze to help stop bleeding. Applying a cold compress on the outside of your skin where the injury is can help reduce swelling and pain.

If the tooth has sharp edges, you can reduce the chances of cutting yourself by covering the tooth with wax or gauze. Call our office as soon as you can.

… I have dislodged or knocked out a tooth? A fully intact tooth knocked out of the mouth can be saved! Clean it, but please do not remove any attached tissue. Do not touch the root of the tooth for any reason! Place it in a cup of milk, and call our office immediately. If you have dislodged a tooth but it is still in place, apply a cold compress to reduce swelling and pain. You can also take acetaminophen or ibuprofen per directions.

… I’m having swelling/pain/fever without injury? If you are having symptoms like these, you may have an infection. Prompt dental care can reduce your chances of complication. If you have swelling, pain, or a fever, call us as soon as you can! You may be in need of a root canal or gum disease treatment. We can offer you immediate, effective treatment to alleviate your pain and restore your oral health.
